In case of any discrepancy, the Lithuanian version prevails.
These terms of service (the Terms) are an agreement between you and the
developer and operator of the Laiškelis app (the App) — a private
individual, Aleksandras Abrutis (the Operator), email
aleksandrasabrutis18@gmail.com.
By creating an account or using the App you confirm that you have read these
Terms and agree to them. If you do not agree, you may not use the App.
1. What Laiškelis is
The App lets you write short letters that are delivered to random other users. The core ideas:
Users only ever see each other's nicknames — there are no real names in the App.
A letter travels to random recipients; likes accompany its journey, and negative votes can end it early.
A letter expires after 7 days. Once expired, and only after a manual moderator review, it may be published in the public "Obituary" section.
A recipient may ask the author to start a private conversation. The conversation only exists if the author accepts.
A second kind of letter — the map letter — is pinned to a spot you choose on a map of Lithuania. Any signed-in user can read it, it lives for 30 days, and every rule in these Terms applies to it identically. The spot is always chosen by tapping the map; the App never reads your device's location.
The App is free and non-commercial: no ads, no purchases, no subscriptions.
2. Your account
Only a person aged 18 or older may create an account.
One person may have only one account.
You are responsible for keeping your login details safe, and for everything done through your account.
A nickname may not be offensive, misleading (for example, impersonating another person or the Operator), or reveal someone else's identity. If a nickname is judged unacceptable, you may be required to change it, or the account may be removed.
3. Your content
The letters and messages you write are yours. To make the App work, you grant it
the right to store, display and distribute your content within the App only:
delivering letters to recipients, showing messages to the other participant in a
conversation, and — once a letter has passed moderation — publishing it in the public
"Obituary" section alongside your nickname. Your content is never used anywhere
outside the App.
You are responsible for your own content. By posting it, you confirm that you have
the right to post it and that it does not breach these Terms or the law.
4. Prohibited content and behaviour
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.
Content that breaches this section is removed, and the account behind it is
restricted or deleted — without warning and without exception.
What counts as objectionable is defined by this section. The automatic
filter (see section 5) is only a first line: it stops the most obvious cases
as a letter is sent, but it does not decide what is allowed, and a letter
getting past it does not mean it complies with these Terms. A rough word is
not in itself a breach — the content listed below is.
The following are not allowed in the App:
hateful, degrading, threatening or harassing content;
any unlawful content, or encouragement to commit a crime;
encouragement of suicide or self-harm;
sexual content involving minors, and any attempt to contact minors;
publishing another person's personal data (name, address, phone number, photographs and so on) without their consent, and any attempt to unmask another user's identity;
impersonating another person;
spam, fraud, advertising, malicious links;
attempts to evade moderation, disrupt the App, or gain unauthorised access to other people's data or accounts.
5. Moderation and safety measures
Outgoing letters are checked automatically by a points-based content filter; an unacceptable letter may be rejected without further explanation.
You can report any letter, conversation or individual message right inside the App. Reported content immediately stops being distributed, before any review takes place.
You can block another user — from a conversation, or from any letter they wrote. Once blocked, no letters, messages or requests to talk pass between you in either direction.
You can hide any letter from yourself — it disappears from your Obituary list or your map immediately. The author is not told, and hiding is not a report.
You can delete your own letter at any time in the App — it stops travelling and disappears from other people's view immediately.
The Operator has the right to remove content that breaches these Terms and to restrict or delete the offender's account immediately.
You can always also report inappropriate content by email to aleksandrasabrutis18@gmail.com. Reports are reviewed and acted on within 24 hours: offending content is removed and the account that posted it is banned.
6. Deleting your account and ending these Terms
You can delete your account at any time in the App's settings. What that means for your data is described in the privacy policy.
The Operator may delete an account for breaches of these Terms (see section 5).
The App is a non-commercial one-person project, so the Operator reserves the right to change the App's features or discontinue it permanently without prior notice in the App.
7. Limitation of liability
The App is provided as is — with no guarantee that it will run without interruption or errors.
Letters are written by users. The Operator moderates content in line with section 5, but is not responsible for the accuracy or quality of user-created content.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator is not liable for indirect losses arising from use of the App.
8. Intellectual property
The App's name, design and source code belong to the Operator. User-created
content is covered by section 3.
9. App Store and Google Play provisions
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play:
these Terms are between you and the Operator only — not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC;
Apple and Google are not responsible for the App, its maintenance, support, or any claims relating to it;
Apple Inc. and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and have the right to enforce them against you;
you confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
10. Changes to these Terms
The Operator may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in the App.
By continuing to use the App after changes take effect, you agree to them.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania. Disputes
are settled by negotiation, and failing that, in the courts of the Republic of Lithuania.

(Vilniaus g. 25, Vilnius, vvtat.lt) or use the EU online
dispute resolution platform ec.europa.eu/odr.
